Local Author’s New Short Story is a ‘Scary Good Time’
Best-selling local author Patrick Carman, the creator of Skeleton Creek, has a new short story to share with you! Experience the mysterious story of five friends trapped at home in the format you enjoy most. You can listen or read, and either way, you’ll watch the scariest parts. Told through five audio or written sections and five terrifying videos you watch online, YOU’RE NEXT takes about an hour from start to finish.
We’re here to share a message from Carman himself to tell you about his new short stories.
Hey Walla Walla! I've lived here for going on 20 years and never seen it this weird. While we're all waiting for things to get back to normal, I have a small story and then another small story for you.
This all began with me on a morning run 17 days ago. As is often the case on these runs, I had a big idea. Usually, when this happens the big idea isn't very good by the time I sit down for breakfast, but this time it was still holding its own. And it was already 9 a.m.! So I started writing. And writing. And writing. I may not have mentioned this - I write for a living - so this isn't as unusual as it may sound. Five days later I had a novella. A week after that, I had a cast for videos I wanted to include, and just a few days later a finished project.
Whoa, that was fast! Sometimes inspiration strikes — or so they tell me.
The story I wrote is called YOU'RE NEXT, which was just released. It's cheap - $2.99 - and you can read it or listen to it. Either way, you get to watch all the scary parts in five different videos that are part of the story. You'll read for about 10 minutes, watch a video, and repeat until you reach the end. All in about an hour. If you're trapped at home (I think that's everyone!) this is a really fun story to read or listen to and watch with a spouse or kid that's at least 12 years old. I say 12 because of the scary parts, but then I'm a real wimp when it comes to horror stories. If you want to have a scary good time, you can find out all about the story at www.dontbnext.com.
