Everything You Need to Know About Washington Wine Country

Discover the best of the Evergreen State with the small-town feel of Walla Walla. From world-class wineries to mansion stays, the valley does not disappoint. See it all during your next visit.

Step 1: EAT

  • Walla Walla Bread Company

Walla Walla Bread Company, located on Main Street in the heart of downtown Walla Walla, is the spot for a carb overload. Come for breakfast and snag an order of sourdough pancakes. They are the perfect combination of salty, tangy, and sweet.

Stop in for lunch and indulge in one of their wood-fired pizzas with housemade, crispy pizza dough. Or try one of their hearty artisan sandwiches made on your choice of brioche, ciabatta, or bagel.

  • The Vine

If you go to Washington Wine Country and don’t dine at The Vine, did you really even go? The five-star restaurant is located in the heart of the valley, and serves up daily revolving dishes made from the freshest seasonal products. Chef Nathan Carlson delivers seven-course, prix fixe style menus, making it the ultimate date night to remember.

Step 2: DRINK

A trip to Washington Wine Country would not be complete without touring and tasting at all of the best wineries. • Walla Walla Vintners

It doesn’t get more picturesque than Walla Walla Vintners. Centrally located, the vineyard offers some of the most notable wines in the area.

  • Northstar Winery

If you’re a Merlot lover, you’ll want to plan a trip to Northstar Winery. The oaky, yet bold red wine has consistently earned 94 points on the James Suckling wine rating scale two-years in a row.

  • L’Ecole No. 41

L’Ecole No. 41 is a third-generation, family-owned winery producing stately wines in the heart of Walla Walla. While other wineries utilize grapes harvested from around the world, L’Ecole No. 41 is solely crafted from grapes harvested from their own vineyard. If you’re looking to taste pure Washington wine, this is your spot.

Step 3: ADVENTURE

  • Visit Palouse Falls

Just an hour outside of Walla Walla, you’ll find Palouse Falls, one of Washington’s natural wonders. The massive waterfall drops 200 feet into a churning bowl of crystal blue water and onto the southern end of the Snake River. The falls were created nearly 13,000 years ago from the Ice Age floods, and it’s said to be one of the last remaining active Ice Age waterfalls.

Palouse Falls is one that you’ll want to add to your Washington bucket list.
